Speculative technology
KidMove was a conceptual client introduced in IDEA9105: Interface Design, a postgraduate course at the University of Sydney.
The challenge
Design a trusted, approachable interface that helps parents confidently manage autonomous rides for their kids, even when they’re not in the car.

Problem space
Incorporate trust into every trip
Incorporate trust into every trip. Parents don’t just want convenience. They want certainty.
Parents don’t just want convenience. They want certainty.
KidMove’s service is an automated vehicle system with a trained safety supervisor accompanying each ride. While the technology offers efficiency, the true challenge was building trust.
A question we had to answer was: How might we create an experience that reassures parents throughout their child’s journey?

During the school run
My task was to design the in-ride phase of the user journey, covering the moments when parents interact with the app during pickup, ongoing trips, and arrival.
This part of the journey focuses on reassuring parents that their child is safe. The transport process needs to feel transparent and manageable at all times.

Making safety visible
To ensure transparency and a sense of control, the interface integrates clear safety indicators and multiple reassurance moments across each step.
